Welcome to Catholic Schools Week in 2nd Grade

The theme for Catholic Schools Week this year is Celebrate Service.

We will be celebrating a different form of service each day in our classroom.

Monday: Celebrating Service to Our Country. Students may wear patriotic clothing. We will be making Rosaries for our service men and women.

Tuesday: Celebrating the Service of Our Teachers: Students are to be in uniform today. Teachers will be honored with a luncheon.

Wednesday: Celebrating Service to Our God: Students may wear a religious themed shirt or spirit shirt to school today. We will be honoring God with a special Eucharistic Adoration.

Thursday: Celebrating Service of Our Students: Hurray for our students day. It is also Kansas Day. Students may wear their Catholic Schools Week shirt from last year or any yellow shirt. Teachers will serve students lunch and make them ice cream sundaes. In class, to honor our wonderful readers, we will have a crash and read day. Students may bring a pillow, blanket, or stuffed animal to read with this morning.

Friday: Celebrating Service to Our Diocese: Students will be going to Catholic Charities with the food they have collected all week. Students should wear school uniform and school sweatshirt.

Other things happening this week:

Thursday is Kansas Day - Happy Birthday Kansas. We will be reading about Kansas History all week long. Ask your students about immigration, different forms of Transportation, and our state Capitol. Since Thursday is Kansas Day and our 100th Day of School, this year we will celebrate our 101st Day of School on Friday. I am issuing 2 challenges to our class this week:

1st- Can we read 101 books by Friday? If so, we will have a popcorn party on Friday!

2nd - Can we bring in 101 food items by Friday? If so - I will double it! Let's see if our class can't help to Stuff the Bus!

Hurray!! We collected 354 food items!!!!
